I’ll be visiting the AERO Expo in Friedrichshafen next week! I will be signing books at the Fliegermagazin booth (A5-325) at 11:00 on Thursday and 15:00 on Friday, for approximately an hour each. So if you want to meet me, that’d be the best place to come and say hi. I’m always happy to meet fans and have a chat! I’ll bring our new German book and even a handful of Italian books, but, of course, all our stuff in English as well.

The Fliegermagazin booth is going to be my base camp, so your best chance of meeting me will be there. Outside of my scheduled signing hours I will be randomly roaming the halls and tarmac, but if you see me and recognize me, don’t hesitate to make contact. I respond to “Stefan”, “Stef”, “Chicken Wings Guy!”, “Hey!” and “Yo!”.

Looking forward to see you there!

Chicken Wings 4 - Goldrausch - DEUTSCHWe finally did it! After about fifteen years of drawing Chicken Wings and after being asked about it over and over again, we finally managed to publish our first book in our mother tongue. We decided to not proceed in chronological order, but start with our latest issue, which is why our first German book has the number four on its cover.

Translating was no simple task. Mike wasn’t of much help, because he’s been living in the States for so long that his aviation vocabulary is almost exclusively English. (Or rather, American, haha.) So I was basically stuck with doing the whole translation myself. The fact that there’s a lot of aviation lingo that’s often not translated, radio talk, plays on words and limited space in the speech bubbles has led me towards a new level of respect for the profession of translators. But anyway, we got it done!

The most crucial factor of success is an economical one though. We finally found a great printer that allows us to print smaller quantities at reasonable prices, which so far was the biggest obstacle to experimental publications. We have also changed the format to a smaller size and put more strips per page. That way we managed to give you exactly the same content at the same price.

So, please check it out! It is available now through our European Online Shop! I will also be selling and signing the book at AERO in Friedrichshafen in a couple of weeks (more details about when and where exactly coming soon), and you’ll be able to get it through well-assorted pilot shops in Germany soon. E.g. Siebert has already ordered some …

“Chicken Wings 4 – Goldrausch” Coming Soon!

cw-4-cover-deutsch-270px… really soon! We’ve been wanting to translate and publish our books in German for many, many years now. It is our mother tongue, after all, and people have been asking us about it since the very beginning. Behind the scenes, we’ve been working on it for what feels like forever, but now the stars have finally aligned and the day is at hand! We’ve decided to start with our latest book (Gold Rush) and then work our way back. Or maybe forward at the same time, since book number 5 is in the planning stages as well. Anyway, “Chicken Wings 4 – Goldrausch” is being printed as I type this! We are literally shivering with antici … pation! So, if you make it to Linz, you’ll be able to get your hands on the books on which the ink will barely have been dried!

If you can’t make it to Linz, you can always come to …

Aero Friedrichshafen, 20. – 23. 4.

Where I will also be making an appearance! I’ll be there on Thursday 21. and Friday 22. Most likely, you’ll be able to find me at the Fliegermagazin area again, but I will keep you posted with further details as soon as I know them. Of course, I will also be bringing our new German book there!

Hey there, fellow chicken aviators!

We are in the VERY EARLY planning stages of the next book. A lot will change this time, the printer, the format, some logistical and technical issues behind the scenes will be fixed, but fear not Chuck and Julio will stay the same. But we have come to the first big hurdle:

Roost Air HatOne thing Stef and I can’t agree on at the moment is what will be on the cover of the next book. SHould we do more chickens? less chickens? more planes? less planes? put the Corsair on the cover again which has been suggested before numerous times. We are confused and undecided, and on top of that DIVIDED!

We need you guys as a tie-breaker! So we thought we would turn it into yet another contest/raffle. Write us what you think would be funny, or cool, or awesome on the next cover. We will then raffle off 2 “Roost Air” hats from your entries. Multiple entries are allowed since we want as many ideas as possible.

And we will let you know where the hats go in a week from now on Wednesday the 16th.
