Supply chain issues

I think we came up with this strip about a year into the whole Covid situation. I remember all kinds of industries being affected by supply chain disruptions. Of course, that was exactly the time when our old car gave up the ghost and we had to start shopping for a new one. Car manufacturers had trouble shipping new cars and the second hand market was wiped clean. A lot of dealers would tell us stuff like “I can gladly sell you a car, I just can’t tell you when you’ll receive it. Maybe in half a year?” Fortunately, we eventually found a demonstration car for a reasonable price that we’re very happy with.

But as annoying as that is when trying to buy a car, we also had supply problems with various drugs in our country. Can you imagine needing antibiotics or insulin and there just not being any for sale? That was quite the wake-up call. At least I hope so! It sure was “interesting” to see our whole system stress tested. But then, it feels like we live in “interesting times” for quite a few years now … Maybe I’m just getting old, but I’d be ready for a few boring and predictable years for a change!
