A diamond in the sky
Okay, I need to apologize. First off, the diamond depicted in this comic is clearly not in the sky, but on the taxiway or ramp. Also, more importantly, sorry for the song that’s probably stuck in your head for the rest of the day. At least I assume it’s very likely, because it’s one of those strange instances where a song haunts me and I sing it all day long, even if I really don’t like it. I wanted to write something about how Beyoncé and how her music isn’t really my thing. But then I looked up the song and it’s actually from Rhianna. Well, that should tell you how much I am interested in that genre.
Anyway … on to the flying kind of diamonds. One of our biggest fans actually flies a Diamond DA40 with a Chuck on its cowling! I have attached you a couple of images. Pretty sweet, huh? The people at the Diamond factory, which coincidentally is more or less next door from my house, delivered it right out of the shop with this awesome decal.
Oh, and another reason to apologize: I totally forgot to upload a strip last week. I think that must have been the first time in our 20+ year history. I feel like I’m at a point where I don’t have full control of my life. Everything’s fine and everybody’s healthy, so don’t worry! But it feels like I’m drowning in house work, work, dad duties and other responsibilities and never find time to be creative or enjoy drawing … it’s a long story that’s neither unique nor interesting. But it’s the reason why things are moving kinda slow here at Chicken Wings for the last few years. Also, my brother is extremely busy with his new(ish) job and although we have about a thousand ideas, we probably need some more time to regain momentum.
Anyway, end of rant. Hope you like today’s strip and tune in again next week!
Cheers!
Stef
Between the strip title and the strip itself, now I’ve got an earworm. I think the ‘you’re welcome’ should be for the bad pun and the apology for the earworm instead of the other way around! Love the pictures though.
Anyway, if life ties anyone up again, why not simply post a classic strip and keep the blurb short? Have a group of them ready to go, and whenever needed, just pull one out.
Speaking of unusual aircraft, has a decision been made yet on a replacement for the formerly-long-suffering Aztec? I say formerly as with Chuck no longer flying it, it can’t be suffering as much…
Never mind the song, the Diamond DA40 is a great aircraft to fly. My flight school purchased two of the from another flight school in spring this year. I got the clearance to fly it–insurance requirement–last month, and it is great. I flew it on a scenic flight today over Hamburg and Lüneburg, my guests loved, I loved it so we all had a great time.
Greetings an many happy landings.

Steam Powered Giraffe does the best version.
And I’m listening to Ayreon live, so it got bounced right out.
Thank the gods of ancient Egypt, Assyria, Greece and Rome that I have never heard that song and now know not to search for it.
If the owner of the aircraft name is lucy, she’s in the sky with diamond, and now you have another tune in the head for the day….
