Fellow Aviators behold! We have another Airplane Coloring Book!

We were down to only 3 boxes of our first coloring book and it was time to re-print. So we thought instead of re-printing the same thing,
let’s just make a completely new coloring book with new images. And this is what we came up with.

Having some experience with coloring books by now we made some changes which should improve your kids’ (or your) coloring experience. We spent a good deal of time test-coloring on all kinds of different papers in order to find one that’s rough enough so the crayon sticks to it well and thick enough so you don’t have colors shine through when you flip the page, yet thin enough to keep shipping costs low. The test coloring was the fun part!

We have also changed the font so it shows upper and lower case letters properly in case schools wanted to use it. This was something we didn’t think of when we made our first coloring book. We had an Elementary School class help us with the aircraft descriptions and bylines and make the appropriate corrections to our less than perfect English skills. Thank you Mrs. Breaux and the kids of Summerville Elementary School for your help! We also set out to find a small business local printer instead of giving our money to a big corporate machine.

The cover is just as glossy but we made it a little thinner to improve shipping costs for our wholesale customers. Just like in the last book we have a great mix of airplanes, jets, helicopters, and puzzles in there and added a few firefighting aircraft, which of course are near and dear to Mike’s heart.

Amazing how much thought and planning goes into a simple coloring book, isn’t it?

But wait, there’s more! Best of all, we were able to get you a lower price!

You can now get them in both our US SHOP and our European SHOP. If you are looking for mass orders of 50 books or more for an event or giveaway please contact us!

And as always, please write us and tell us what you think!

Chicken Wings Il Primo LibroWe have great news for all our friends and fans from Italy! Our first book has just been published in Italian! We have started a partnership with an Italian publisher, and the great folks at LoGisma Editore have embarked on the project of translating all our work into Italian. The plan is to publish all our books, one by one, in the order they were published by us. So, logically, our first book was the first in line.

For all the Facebookers among you, there is a “Chicken Wings Italia” Facebook page that you can like and share.

So, dear friends and fans in Italy, please help us make this a success! Show your support to our friends at LoGisma and JP4 magazine (who have been translating and printing our strips for many years now) so you can soon enjoy all our stuff in Italian!
Salve Ragazzi!

Spring is in full swing, at least in most places, and here are some news from the coop for you!

AERO 2014

Stefan is going to be at the AERO convention in Friedrichshafen again. This year, instead of just roaming the halls, he will be signing books at the Fliegermagazin booth!

So everybody who will be there on Thursday or Friday, be sure to drop by and say hi! The exact times of the signing aren’t set yet, but we will keep you updated on our website and Facebook page.

The show goes from Wednesday, April 9th to Saturday, April 12th.

TOZZLE WORDS

And last but not least, a little plug for another project that Stef is involved in, for everybody who is curious what else he is doing all day long when he’s not drawing chickens.

Take a look at “Tozzle Words“, an iPhone app for kids. It is a very well made word puzzle that teaches kids how to spell in multiple entertaining levels of playful learning.

The developers put a lot of almost neurotic love for detail in the game. Stefan was hired for the graphics, as long-time readers of Chicken Wings will be quickly able to tell by the drawing style. Check it out!

Roos in’t Velt, our #1 Fan from the Netherlands, sent us another great piece of fan artwork! I am pretty sure that this is what it would look like if Chuck participated at the Winter Games.

I wonder if curling is the sport he would pick, but as long as heli skiing is not an Olympic discipline, I can’t think of a more suitable sport. At least he can keep on his sunglasses then!
