Can I borrow your bucking bar?

I recently read about tool management systems where you have to deposit a chip or token when borrowing a tool, so everyone can track who took what. I can totally see Julio implementing something like that! Though I’m not sure how many tokens he’d actually hand out to Chuck…

I’m not a professional, so most of my tools are on the more affordable side. But as a dad, I find myself relating to Julio more and more. I like to encourage my kids to work on things, so I’m happy to lend them my tools. The only problem? Nine times out of ten, I have to hunt them down afterward. The tools, not the kids (usually).

And then there are the tools I manage to misplace all by myself: measuring tapes, box cutters, flashlights, you name it. I try to compensate by buying them in bulk, so there’s always supposed to be one around. But even with half a dozen measuring tapes, every other time I need one, they’ve all mysteriously vanished.

Oh well. I’m sure I’m not the only one!

I was good at misplacing Dad’s tools when I was a kid. Now that far older and have my own tools, I’m just as good at misplacing tools.
