Classified work
I was just working on a design project for a client while listening to the Joe Rogan podcast with Bob Lazar, a scientist who worked on classified projects in Area 51 and talked about it to the public, when suddenly, it occurred to me, that I should upload this week’s strip. And which strip did I discover we scheduled? The one about Chuck doing Skunk Works level classified stuff in his hangar! Dun dun dunnn! Coincidence? Cue the X-Files Title Music.
It’s a really entertaining subject! And I keep an absolutely open mind to all kinds of alien theories, wether they visited us in ancient times and left some relics, wether they crashed in recent times, wether they cooperate with one or more governments or wether they secretly live among us. Or wether they don’t exist at all, or they do, but live too far away from us to ever be able to make contact. I think it’s all possible. But I don’t know what it would take to convince me of any of it. Probably meeting an alien in person, haha!
Mike and I like to speculate on the subject. My biggest issue is that, in the end, it seems absolutely irrelevant to me. When discussing politics, history or economics etc., I can see the connection to my personal life. But, as long as there is no proof and all we have to go on are speculations and rumors, it just feels like a waste of time to get too invested. But I’m sure there is ridiculously advanced technology hidden somewhere in some government or maybe even private facilities somewhere in the desert, and I sure would love to hear more about it!
What is your take? Did anyone of you work in or close to a project like that and is able to talke about it? Probably not, but considering of who we already heard to be among our readers, I guess it’s worth a shot to ask. 🙂
The funny thing is that so many people around the world like to speculate about technologically advanced aliens, but also about all kinds of supernatural beings, and yet those same people often put in charge governments that sistematically cut funding for education and for actual research: the only reliable tools that can actually improve our knowledge. Perhaps, sometimes, mankind likes to dream but doesn’t want to know.
If there’s a book that beautifully combines a very exciting “What if?” with an intellectually honest glimpse into the scientific mentality, that would be Carl Sagan’s “Contact”. I’m talking about the novel, not the movie: the latter just crippled the story, in my opinion, destroying all the nuances that made it beautiful and interesting.
