Sea King undercarriage
« on: March 10, 2009, 07:40:48 PM »
Just watching a programme called Highland Emergancy about the R.A.F and Royal Navy rescue Sea Kings and got wondering.......does the wheels on a Sea King retract?  ::thinking::

Well technically the danish Sikorsky S-61A helicopters aren't Sea Kings (that name is only used for certain variants) but the main wheels on those can retract. See top left photo: http://www.es.aau.dk/projects/uav/research/10/

Btw, last I heard, the Merlin's we got to replace the S-61A's have been given to RDAF which in turn later would buy us some brand new replacements, so I wonder if Denmark have any rescue helicopters at all now.
