RIP: Colin McRae and his son die in helicopter crash near home
« on: September 15, 2007, 11:29:09 PM »
I just heard that rallydriver Colin McRae and his 5 year old son and possibly some others aboard McRae's AS350 B2 crashed half a mile from their home. McRae was listed as a skilled pilot who's flown all over Europe and knew the local area well and the weather wasn't bad. McRae's wife and their 9 year daughter were not aboard.

One at the RacerPlanet forum said the AS leaves precious little time when something goes wrong with it, is that true? According to him then this was the helicopter: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0317216/L/

how did they crash?

this is such a fail-safe helicopter . . .

usually, they toughest thing we have to deal with when running our A-Stars is trying to decide what's for dinner . . .

any news on this one?

what a bummer!  :-[

Actually, another news-source says it was a client and not Colin that flew the helicopter, but there are a lot of unknowns since the wreck was awfull so they can't say how many or who was on board, only that there were no survivors.
