No strip on December 27th ...
« on: December 27, 2005, 09:19:36 AM »
Some of you might have noticed that our first book is dedicated to our mom. The reason for this is that the whole time we built this website and made the book, she was fighting a long and fierce battle with cancer. She was very strong and gave it all she had for as long as she possibly could until there was nothing left to give. She lost her final battle on Christmas day.

We just thought we owe it to her to not conduct “business as usual” this week and pretend nothing happened. And we thought we owe it to you guys to let you know what happened since we look at you as a bunch of friends with the same passion for aviation who get together to have a good time rather than customers we serve as a business. We will be spending a lot of time with our immediate family this week away from computers and drawing boards, we know you’ll understand.

We loved her very much and even though we didn’t always make it easy for her (one of us moves to the other side of the world to fly helicopters into fires of all things, and the other goes to Asia just to come back and draw comics instead of working the ‘real’ job he went to school for all these years) she never put her needs first and always supported us in what we did. We love her very much and are fortunate to have her as our mother. She will be in our thoughts and prayers forever. . .

My condolences guys...
To most people, the sky is the limit. To those who love aviation, the sky is home.

While a degree of grief might always surface at Christmastime from now on,
you must always try to think of the fact that your Mom had the greatest
asset... she died knowing her kids loved her. There is no greater joy!
God bless you and keep you.

Just got back to looking at your strip after the holidays.  Very sorry to hear about your Mom.  I lost my Father on Christmas Day of 1998, so I can identify.
May God Bless,
Bruce

Thanks again everybody for the overwhelming response and kindness.
We really appreciate it!

I would like to end this thread now and concentrate once again on the funny side of life and especially aviation. I am sure she would have wanted it that way. She would have said "go out side and play now! don't be sitting here being all sad all that, that's not doing anybody any good!"

So, let's go and play guys!

My condolences, sadly I can relate, my father died of lung-cancer December 26th 1998. And sadly he wasn't the only one in his family to do so.
