Good forum policy
« on: July 13, 2007, 02:47:06 AM »
I want to congratulate Mike and Steph on having really good policies here on the forum! Take, for example, their rule about no self-promotion. Excellent idea! If they didn't have that rule, I could blatantly post the fact that my new book on aircraft designer John Monnett is now listed on the publisher's web site and is available for ordering. I could also attach the publisher's blurb, which reads:

john monnett: from sonerai to sonex
by Jim Cunningham

JUST PUBLISHED, this is the story of John Monnett - kit plane designer, innovator, air racer, world record holder, EAA Hall of Famer - and his many airplanes.  While pursuing his own aviation interests, Monnett inspired and enabled thousands of others to build and fly affordable aircraft.  From the Sonerai, sketched at his kitchen table in 1964, to pioneering engine conversions, to the Sonex's simple construction methods, John Monnett is a flag-bearer for grassroots aviation.  The book covers his early aviation designs and all of the airplanes he designed.  His ingenuity and  successes with simplifying airplane design has helped make owning an airplane affordable for decades. The author has done a wonderful job of detailing the technical aspects of the airplanes in harmony with highlighting the efforts of many others who worked with Monnett, including his wife, Betty, and long-time friend and collaborator, Pete Buck.  The book has over 300 photographs, illustrations and 3-views.  There are 16 pages of color photographs.
150 pages, SB, 8.5 x 11, 333 b & w and color photos & illustrations.  $30.00

And I could also put in the following link:

Luckily, for all involved they don't allow this sort of thing, so I can't take up space here in the forum with it!

Thanks guys!

TM

P.S. Yes, the guys know about this, and encouraged me to post about it without my asking... thanks guys!

Well GEE, duck,
Why don't you beg the magnanimous masters of the forum to let you tell us a little something on the subject?   |:)\

Haha! Turbo, that's an excellently hidden advertising! As soon as I pay my credit card, and they decide to reactivate it, I will have a copy!  |:)\
I give that landing a 9 . . . on the Richter scale.

Hey, that's flattering! It's gotta cost you a fortune, though! Don't order one unless it's something you can afford as a treat of some sort-- don't skimp on essentials on my account!

Yeah, it has been forever... a year ago the project was dead as far as I knew. But miracles happen! Right now the publisher will be the only ones with copies available by mail, and I won't ever see those, so i can't sign them. Sonex will be selling them at Airventure and if I'm around I'll be happy to desecrate one for whomever may want one defaced!
