Goin' Fishin'
« on: June 29, 2007, 07:04:13 PM »
Hey Y'all,

I'm departing tomorrow morning for the wilds of Baja California Sur in the trusty old Pilatus.  I gotta take a group of Dads and Grads there so they can go deep-sea fishing, and yes I'm being included in the fishing too. 8) 8) 8)  However, there is just one Internet Cafe in town and I do not have dial-up anymore for my laptop so I will be incommunicado until I get back on the 3rd of July.  Even my cellphone doesn't work down there.  Hooray!!!  I'm free of the Electronic Leash for four days!!! ::rambo:: ::rambo:: ::rambo:: ::rambo::

Please try not to burn down the state of California while I'm gone, OK?  I promise to post some pics if I catch any good size Dorado fish. ::cowboy::

Viva la cerveza del Pacifico! ::drinking:: ::drinking:: ::drinking:: ::drinking::  Ready or not, here I come!

GREAT !   Have fun---I used to fly one of my employers down to Punta Pescadero for fishing trips and always had a blast---they even included my wife |:)\

heh....back when I worked for Fred Meyer (now "Kroger West" the blackhearts) I used to get to hang with the buyers and VP's when the annual sporting goods meeting took place--coincidently on the Kenai River during King Salmon and Red Salmon season (thats Chinooks and Sockeye for you purisits).  I'd get to sit in on the product brief by our suppliers then go out with the VP's on a guided King Salmon trip in the afternoon.  That evening me and the boss (we both owned boats) would take them all out for red salmon fishing.  Was a good time...we shmozed and stuff.  I figure anytime a job or other situation lets you get in a good fishing trip...GO FOR IT BRO!!!! :)

Went fishin today and all I caught was 2 Barracuda and a wicked sunburn!   I think it's 'cause I have a bad habit of screaming at the fish...  ::loony::  Best of luck to ya!
Don't worry, it'll buff out.

Got back from Fishing in Mexico yesterday.  Unfortunately the fishing was rather disappointing.  We had 8 guys out on two boats, and all we caught were 3 Dorado...  all on my boat.  These pics are of the biggest one caught (a 25 pounder) on our first day on the water.  I caught 2 more Dorado on the second day, but they were only 10 pounders.  Seas were so rough on the first day that everyone got seasick, but our hangovers might have had something to do with that!  Hehe.

When we were done fishing, we'd beach the boat on a lovely white sand beach at an Island about 7-8km from town.  There we'd eat our lunch, swim a bit, and feed whatever leftover bait we had to the local pelicans.  We had been using Mackerel for bait on this day, and the Pelicans had a feast!  Our boat Captain loved teasing the birds with the fish.

Sunrises on the water are often spectacular, and this one morning was no exception.

I got back from even more fishing in Loreto, and it still stunk!  I caught just two Dorado again, and neither was a keeper (both around 5 pounds).  We did troll for Marlin, but couldn't find any.  Oh well...  I reckon I'll leave that stuff to the locals.  Sure was gorgeous there again.

The best freshwater fish are right in my backyard.  Lake of the Woods walleye are world famous, and you usually get more than one a day.   ;)

That last one is a northern pike.  Looks to be about 3 ft. long.
