Farewell to an Aussie WWII legend :(

One of our last Spitfire pilots, "Bobby" Gibbes passed away April 11  :'(  |:)\ the plane below is the Spitfire located in Temora NSW that was painted in his personal WWII colours......sad loss for us

He looked friendly and relaxed in that picture. Nice elegant colours on the Spitfire too and very nice pictures |:)\

I wish him blue skies in his journey west  |:)\ |:)\

I believe that's the first shark mouth decorated Spit that I've seen ::thinking::---pretty neat  8)

The Spit also looks to be a newer model with that 4 blade prop ???

The Shark Mouth is from the Grey Nurse Sqdn. 457 RAAF based in Morotai island in the Halmaheras in mid 1945, Bobby was the Wing Commander.

Sorry should have noted the Spittie model she is a MK. VIII I think (if i'm wrong let me know...always happy to learn) the second variant with the 4 blade fan?
