Wow that looks mean. How many people are living up there, aren't most centered around the south-eastern corner area (and then the big city in the other end, Perth?)?

Btw, not to make a joke of a serious storm, even in Denmark have there been fatal storms the last couple of years besides the usual ton of broken trees and regularly 1-3 meter floods of the western part of the country but I just noticed your quote from Sparks in your signature and thought it was a nice signature, although this thread is sadly not the best place to say it.
My sincere best wishes for all that might be hit by that.

Frank

Hi Frank,

Weather guys are saying if the high level winds decrease tonight we are in a spot of bother  ::sweat:: All of the really big cities Sydeny and Melbourne are in the lower south east, we in Brisbane are just a bit closer (see map) North Queensland (the heart of the Great Barrier Reef area) usually gets hit the hardest....they had a big one last year and will be like "Not again PLEASE"......keep you informed.

I didn't know the Scandanavian regoins got huge storms??? Wow

PS Thanks the signature comment....it was at the time one of the funniest things i had read and was doing EFATO training the week i read it

Cool shots gibbo!  It was impressive to see how fast the weather built there, when we did that study, and it was also surprising to see how fast it would all collapse, and rebuild.  Very dynamic!!  And, beautiful......

Good luck mate!!!!!!    ;D

I just caught the tail end of the TV news, showing folks wading in pretty deep floodwaters...  all it said for location was "Northern Territory" --  I'm going to check the Aussie news and see!  They were warning about the saltwater crocs possibly lurking in the flooded areas...  YIKES!!!!!!!!!!

 ::eek::

Salty's...EEEK ::eek:: ::eek:: not something to be taken lightly they're ALWAYS hungry, probably nastier than sharks  ::unbelieveable::

yeah the NT got a lot of rain, it looked like they were in  for a Cyclone too at one stage as well, just shows you what the high level winds can do to weather patterns in a matter of hours

Thanks for the links -- some interesting weather for sure!!  I like how the articles mention it is NOT unusual for this time of year...  one guy they showed on the TV was up to his waist in murky brown water and just shrugged, with a big grin on his face!  Yeah, you Aussies really ought to learn how to COMPLAIN, and WHINE, a bit more...  when we were down there flying and asked for some strange clearances, even the guy in the tower would cheerfully answer, "Oh, no worries! You're cleared...blah blah blah..."

HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!

We leave most of the complaining up to the people from Sydney  ;D they're best at it  ;)  so we leave it up to them  :D :D :D

You don't hear people from "the Top End" complaining that much 'cause they have built such a sense of humour and a "got something better to do" attitude that floods etc really don't bother or stop them.  CROC's do though  ::knockedout:: ::eek::
