Hey chuckar101, it is a Lanc'  the engines are two Rolls Royce Nene 1 turbojets,the Brits used this Lanc as a testbed just after the war, it's reg is VH742.

---I will agree that George Bush may be absolutely wrong and the government policies may be totally in error and that  making changes in that policy may be slow because in a free and democratic society we have to vote to change government and it's policies.     We will vote and we will change these unpopular policies, it will take time and the really bad thing about that is innocent people get killed while we are struggling to eliminate bad leaders and bad policies--that's how a free society works.
BUT, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL I ALLOW ANYONE TO DISRESPECT THESE COURAGOUS YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE TO FOLLOW THE LAWFULLY GIVEN ORDERS OF THEIR SUPERIORS.   TO REFER TO THEM AS "IMPERIAL TROOPERS" AND THE REFERENCE TO THE KEVLAR HEADWEAR COMPARING IT TO THE NAZIS IS HIGHLY OFFENSIVE!
PLEASE DO NOT EVER CONFUSE THESE MEN AND WOMEN WITH GOVERNMENT POLICIES!
I SAW TOO MANY FRIENDS DIE WHILE MY GOVERNMENT STRUGGLED WITH WRONG POLICIES IN VIETNAM TO LET SOMEONE MAKE DENIGRATING REMARKS ABOUT THEM.
I hope you understand that my feelings on this matter are very strong because I was one of those poor bastards out in the field getting shot at while Johnson, McNamara, and other government jerks were making mistakes and the process to remove them was as slow then as it is now.

OK, from one bastard to another, I accept your apology---
It's just too bad that the world sees American people and American policies as one and the same when the average citizen sees hundreds of billions of our tax money being given away to other countries as aid money only to have them label us (the citizens) as "imperialists".   I for one would love to see the US withdraw from the position of trying to be the worlds police force
and stop most (but not all) foreign aid.  Unfortunately, with great power, comes great responsibility and our elected leaders have overstepped common sense and the mandate given them by the voters to help those in need.  There are many stories of  success due to the largess of Americans, most notably the Germans and Japanese who became economic powerhouses partly because of the Marshall plan and other good programs funded by American tax dollars.   I guess most of us are tired of having some jerk tell us we are all "imperialists" while he/she is reaping the benefits of money we are giving them for Christ's sake---kind of like giving a dollar to a bum and having him tell you to kiss his ass.
Any, you old bastard, that's enough--nothing funny here---how bout we go back to humor OR we could meet at dawn with chainsaws and entertain ourselves whilst whacking away at each other's aging carcass
btw--did I read you were born in 1944 and someone shot you in 1963 when you 19 years old?
