Lastly, I wonder where that N registered Navajo came from, and how long the owner has had it in Europe?
Roost, most of Greek pilots until recently were trained in the States. I think that in Europe you have to fly a N-reg bird if you only have a FAR licence.
Well, in Greece there is no such limitation but the benefits of having a foreign tail number are still high. That is why you see all those N-s, G-s, I-s and OK-s flying in Greece.
To try to explain, our government treats airplanes like, let's say, luxury yacht boats and assumes you must be perfectly rich, so they tax you for it, a LOT!
It's one of the four or five things that won't let Greek GA go forwards (that were exactly the kind of things we were talking at that same fly-in).
So, as long as you can find an FAA inspector to sign your logs, keeping the N-number is the thing to do.
The Navajo was a thing of beauty I must say! Pretty cool! You know, I think you guys can see it's likes everyday, but they are considered extremely exotic around here!
