Standard shell connector.  You connect it to these type of connectors

Note the insulation failure on the wire that shorted out the circuit.

Note the insulation failure on the wire that shorted out the circuit.

Indeed it did.  The connector in question goes to the AH-1W's combining gearbox oil pressure transmitter.  The vibration of the bird caused the inner conductor (which carries the signal) to repeatedly contact the outer shielding (keeps outside electrical signals from messing up the signals on the inner conductor) and made the combing gearbox oil pressure gauge jump all over the place.  I took that pic as a reference to grab a replacement pin (wire splices are not authorized that close to a connector, so we just trim back to the damaged section and replace the pin.)  30 minutes of trimming and soldering later, the gauge now behaves like a saint. Welcome to my world...

P.S. I'll try to dig up some more pics.
Don't worry, it'll buff out.

Do you think i'll be able to get into Smoke Jumper's school after that?

Hey, Skid Kid! Those cannon plugs are familiar to me. I worked on F/A 18s in MALS 11 for awhile. We did some work on the cables sometimes.

Sadly, I never went to the sandbox. They kept goading us on, but my EAS came up. I was disabled, so I decided to leave. Two months after I was discharged, I hear about Fallujah in the news. Took me a couple of years to get over that guilt.

Now, my time in service just seems like memories in someone else's scrapbook.

I have a BF-262, V-tail Bonanza, and I think a Viking (S-3) model laying around somewhere I need to get to. There may be more. I don't know for certain.
