Last weekend.

Where am I and why the manic grin...? ;-)

You're in the cockpit of the Concorde!

Really?
How do you know, Gilly?
Clue me in!!

I looked at Leia's profile, and then clicked on her homepage, which is her flight journal. And it has that picture and says that she imagines herself behind the wheel of the Concorde.

and here was I complimenting you on your aircraft recognition skills.... ::) :)

Aircraft? What's an aircraft? Some kind of drink?  ::) ::loony:: ::loony::

Congratulations!!! That is totally awesome (in the correct sense of the word). I seriously understand the Joker-smile (The Joker from the Batman comics/series/movies). I think if I saw in a XB-70, YF-23, SR-71 or GA-112 I'd feel the same.

Is it the one in Heathrow? (I saw it on satellite photos, parked at the curb of a large taxi-way I think), and where did you get the cool cap?

Gilligan: Oh come on, anyone can recognize that yoke and instrumentpanel. Btw, that weird yoke is also used on Embraer aircraft and I got a picture of the cockpit of a Twin Commander Shrike where one such strange device is evident. I already don't like the normal yokes where the axle is at the absolute bottom of the yoke since it must give a strange movement when banking but that type there looks to be very very weird to fly imho.

Heh, I looked before I posted to see if zooming in enough would make the placard saying G-BOAC readable  ;D

Some friends from another online bulletin board went to Manchester, where one of them volunteers as a tour guide round the aircraft, and "did" Concorde (Also half a DC10, a Trident, and an Avro RJX -- and if anyone recognises one of them then they need more than one virtual pint!).

I suspect every single one of us went away with a photo of us in the P1 seat of the beautiful "Alpha Charlie".  (complete with hat!) ;)

Royal seat? As in "the throne" ?

The Caravelle III I sat in with my dad also had such a cover.

I think the Manchester one is one of very few where you can get "up front".  Certainly the two others I've toured at Duxford and Brooklands have the flightdeck roped off.

This is a moldy oldie, but here is a Doug load full of Special Forces, about to jump into an abandoned airbase to carry out a fake attack.  It was about impossible to get up to the front, they had so much gear.

Don't make me come back there!!!!

I wonder if your threat of "Don't make me come back there!" would work on that crowd?
Don't worry, it'll buff out.
