A couple of pics from a Trip to Melbourne International the other weekend.
We sat at the end of the RWY and watched everybody come in on Final... Yep I already know I'm crazy  ::wave::

Hahaha, that's the requirement to join the club |:)\ ::wave::
Is it still ok to sit (outside the fence) and look and photograph aircraft over there? I'm not quite sure how ok it is here at the large airports (of course one of them is also a military base where I think we keep the F-16s).

Hey Frank :)
Yeah its still fine to take pics. I dont think they would let us take them at military bases but I guess thats the same anywhere :P
There were a ton of other ppl there taking photo's. Also a couple of icecream trucks - so there must be ppl there on a regular basis :)

Cheers

edit: oops my pics are really big. I will have to resize them next time :P

Nice pics. And there's nothing wrong with being a little crazy. We're airplane nuts. Nuts, crazy, bananas, aloof..... The list goes on.

P.S. why does the word wrong have a W in front of it? ::loony:: ::loony::

Ok, here goes.  Frank was right, I have some pics I wanted to share with you from the Miramar Air Show that was held over the weekend.  The Blue Angels put on their usual awesome performance, but my cheapie camera isn't really designed for decent air pics.  However, there were a few static displays I thought I would share with you.

Here is the first, a Lockheed Electra polished up so nicely you can comb your hair!

Next for your Brits/Scotts/Aussies/Canadians etc, a Fairy Firefly Mark VI

A couple of more recent Military types:  A Douglas Skyraider with wings folded up and wearing Vietnam War-era camouflage, then a MiG 21 that somebody in the area owns.

Finally, no one can deny being impressed by walking through the cavernous cargo compartment of a C-5B Galaxy transport.  That vertical stabilizer appears WAY UP THERE when you stand underneath it!

Oops!  You are correct, Ian.  I have edited it.  Not enough coffee this morning...

Lovely pics, Mary!

Autumn can be a beautiful time of year, but it always depressed me when I lived in the Dakotas because I knew winter and the bitter cold was just around the corner.

Lucky for you Idaho has much milder winters than the Dakotas.   |:)\
