R/C Planes

Cool!  I started with models, then moved up to Ultralites, then to 'Real' planes.
So how many hot rod planes is Chuck going to rekit before he admits he needs a trainer?   ;D

yeah...models aren't all the easy to fly from what I remember....

we'll see how Chuck does...

It's definetly a good topic for CW strips though, isn't it?!

Oh yes!  especially for someone as humble as Chuck.   ::rofl::
I'd definitly say RC is harder the the real thing, no instruments, no seat of the pants feel, and everything happens much quicker.  Not to mention the old problem of "Ok, my left isn't the airplanes left"

Yeah!  I flew U/C (control line) for a couple of years and then started flying R/C.  When it came time to learn to fly "real" airplanes my instructor said I was the easiest student she ever had.  She sent me off solo with 8.75hrs of dual logged.  The owner of the flight school was really P.O.ed at her for doing that so he made me go up with him. After landing he apologized to her and signed me off for solo anytime I wanted the plane.  Ahh, the good old days when I could rent a C172 for $25.00 wet!!!

$25 bucks!

The lowest I fle was a C-152 for $35 wet and that's 12 years ago !!

$25 an hour is almost cheaper than flying RC planes !!  ;D

I followed a similar progression.  Started with rubber band powered planes, then U-control, then R/C, then Ultralights, then finally certified aircraft.  And now I'm building rubber band powered planes and looking at ultralights.  Does this mean I'm starting over at the beginning?   ???

I started with plastic scale models, then moved to RC gliders (actually, we were like the Wright Brothers because we didn't know anything about aviation and it was an age long time ago without internet, so we had to figure out what a stall was on the first flight)
then RC motorgliders, then RC planes, then real motorgliders, real planes, real helicopters and that's where I am at right now.

My company just bought an aircraft which I used to fly 10 years ago when I first started as a charter pilot, so I feel like I am going in circles as well right now  ;)  ::thinking::

I am not sure what's next but I had been thinking about an RC tug-boat for a while.....
