ROFL, I wondered about that too, then I googled and found out it's part of the european std. PPL.

Congrats!  |:)\ Is the weather as fine on the islands as it is in central Europe?? If so, you will probably get a lot of flying done right now... (I remember you griping about the weather over there a lot...)

Yes, I remember I read in the homepage a kind of "handmade" weather check that sounded like:
if I do not see that......too much fog
if it's beautiful but I hear that (gulls?)......too much wind

BTW, I sometimes give a glance to Leiafee page and well, it's really really well written. so, if you've not checked it out yet, do it!
I renew my congrats, and after what I wrote in the previous line, I hope that you're going to give us more hints about your flights!  |:)\

GFT...y'know I wondered about whether there was the same abbreviation when I posted it.  Thwarthed by Britisms again.
  ::)

Heh, yes.  That's my quick and dirty weather summing up.

 "Can I see the top of (very large) the hill I live under?" / "Can I hear the seagulls?" (they only come inland this far when it's windy).

Oh and not to forget I also jumped the gun somewhat and 'invested' (if that's the right word!) in a share of a hairyplane.  This be her:

Bit hasty maybe, but so many people, (here at least - might be different over in the US) get their PPL then let it lapse and I don't want to be one of them.  I want to go places and hiring club planes for that is expensive and has to be done ages in advance.

I want to wander down the airfield on sunny evenings after work and fly!

WOW, G-TOMS is a pretty little girl!
You know, for good luck, you have to pee-pee on the tires in a late night ceremony for a new aircraft aquisition.   Don't think I'm being crude-- this is the truth according to Gordon Baxter (Flying magazine "Bax Seat")

HAHAHA! Looks like tires do not have an easy life then! They begin their life being peed upon, and go on being kicked everytime the PIC decides to go flying, to see if they're allright! :)

You surely are going to enjoy the plane. I'd like to get a share to go flying, since by myself would be too expensive, but it's still too expensive to get just a share too!
so, I've to content myself and rent the plane from the school where I got my PPL two years ago. that's not really easy, since they have 4 and they are almost always busy. I've to call at least a week in advance and lately it happens that everytime I decide to go flying it's an incredibly shining day (that usually means, applying your weather check, that there is north wind, and when there is north wind, it's usually impossible to go flying due to the fact it's too strong and there are wind shears and gusts on the runway much higher that what a piper can stand). :( Maybe someday I will be able, now I still have to look for a stable "money entry", since I've too many stable money exits! ;) ;D
