Earth is a disc!!!
« on: June 07, 2006, 08:13:56 PM »
Recently I had a discussion with a friend who claimed, that our good old mother earth is a sphere. I disagree absolutely!! The earth must be a disc. I think everybody knows, that hunderds of years ago people have been burned, because they claimed such therories!!
Or how is it to explain, that I'm allways at the same FL when I'm flying straight ahead???

What do you think?

Well, if everybody would read Terry Pratchet, there would be no useless discussion about this topic! The earth is obvioulsy a disc, set on four giant elephants which are in turn standing on a giant turtle floating through space.  ;D

Maybe your airplane isn't powerful enough, and you're actually descending? :)

I agree with Munuel, planes don't actually fly straight and level, they are always descending.  No rockets on the other hand can fly straight and level.
WOW I did that!

In that case you get a free "floating in space" travel! Need anything else? there are people who'd pay to do this......................... ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Which reminds me, there's a nice but short article about Scott Crossfield in this months Plane and Pilot.  I didn't realize he was also one of the designers of the X-15.   His life was one of cosmic timing---the right man at the right place with the right skills at exactly the right moment!  |:)\
