Here's an awesome link.  These are time lapse videos of earth that were taken last August by the crews aboard the International Space Station.  240 miles up and travelling serenely over the cities, storms and auroras of our home world.  Man, what I'd give to see that for myself.

Here's another production by the same ISS crew.  UK's Daily Mail newspaper ran this video along with a story of the "New" city lights in North Dakota which turned out to be the Bakken oilfield, which is one of the largest new oilfields in the USA.

I used to fly in and out of Dickenson and Williston ND, both of which are in the middle of the Bakken.  From what my friends have told me, the whole area is booming.  The FBO owner has asked if I'd like to become his General Manager so he can retire, but I don't think he could compete with the oilfield wages, and I'd be too temped to go drive a pumper truck and make more money than he'd be willing to pay.

Plus, there's no way I will ever get Mrs RC to leave San Diego for the frozen prairie of North Dakota.
