Jet-Blue flight attentant - Who's side are you on?
« on: August 11, 2010, 04:21:49 PM »
I think the latest news about the Jet Blue flight attentant who popped the slide and took off with beer in hand (do you know that guy, G-Man?) is FUNNY!!

I have to say I am totally with him! I have seen the rudest passengers on some of my latest flights. Nobody respects the flight crew anymore.....

What do you guys think?

Heard that when he went up the the passeger either a bag or the lid of the over head bin hit him then he started his rant at the passengers, could that of set him off?

The way some passangers can behave.... I can understand this guy totally. Though setting off on a slide might not be the thing to do exactly.

This guy is a hero! You can take the whole "the customer is always right" thing a bit too far. I heard that, when after the lady bumped the door of the overhead bin (or was it her luggage?) on his head, he asked for an apology, and she started cussing at him in the worst possible way.  ::complaining:  ::loony::

I love the story a friend of mine, who also was a flight attendant, told me: When some people got up while the plane was still taxiing to the gate, the pilot made a small "emergency break" and sent those fools tumbling through the aisles!  ;D

Nice!

That pilot is a hero too.

I just don't get why people can't abide by the rules. The FA didn't make the rules, why give him a hard time and hit him with luggage. Those people need to be banned from flying.

I was at the movies the other day and the girl told a guy he couldn't bring his drink in from the outside. Man! You should have heard that guy and how he let lose on the poor girl. Maybe not a great rules that you can't bring stuff inside a theater, but again, not her rules.....

We hire these flight attendants to be professionals.
I take my hat off to all of them for putting up with an airplane full of children.

I can understand taking a lot and blowing up at the passengers.
Where he lost me was the theft(beer) and destruction of aircraft equipment (slide).

As to the woman, why has she not been charged with assaulting an aircrew?
Where is TSA when you need them?

I have flown in commercial flights too many times. I saw passengers acting stupid but only once I saw a passenger dangerous behavior. She tried to open the airplane door at crusing altitude because she had to pee and the toilet was occupied. Boy I would have liked to see her sucked out of the airplane. Thanks for the pressurised cabin, she wasn't able to open it.

But the flight attendant dealed with the situation. It was her duty. She took care of it. They are underpaied.  we look at them like sky waitress but they are taking care of dangerous live stock cargo.

I would not do their job. Eat tons of shit from pax all day long and having the responsability to make sure they are happy, comfortable and alive at destination. But I will never ever accept a flight attendant loosing control like this guy did. There might be is a limit of how many stupidity you can handle but don't freak out in front of passengers. I worked with clients for 20 years and it's always the same. You try to please them, some will recognise your work. Those who don't, have cigarette break, talk about them at 5-7 beer party, ...

If I would have see a flight attendant acting like this one, I would never flight with this company again.

He may have not gone exactly the right way about this, I can see what you guys are saying, but:

Where are the Feds in all this?  What is TSA saying?
I thought not following the flight crews orders is a Federal offence just like it is tampering with the smoke detectors?
How come the passenger hasn't been held responsible or charged with assault?

To me this looks an awful lot like one of those cases where tha cops shoot a kid and everybody gets all up in arms about how bad the cops are, especially if the kid was of a certain ethnicity.
And at the same time everybody forgets that the kid just robbed a store and shot the clerk.

And also:
How did he get all the way to his car without anybodt stopping him?
I see a little flaw in airport security as well.
That's why I also liked the Barefoot Bandit in a way because he brought up some major security issues about our airports.
And what about the underwear bomber?

In all of these cases, the TSA has failed us. But they did make me feel safer by taking my toothpaste which was in a container (3 squeezes left but none the less) of more than 3oz.
One of our posters "Fabo" actually just mentioned something to that matter in the "Funny Aviation Videos" section. I really liked his comment.

Back to the FA. He didn't really endanger anybody by doing what he was doing. The aircraft was safely on the ground. He made a major point that brought up a lot of issues.
Maybe that's what it takes sometimes. The airline will deal with the "theft" and popping the slide I am sure.
And of course, being who I am and what I do here, I love the comical aspect of the whole incident  ;)

I'm on the FA's side all he was doing was his job and he gets assaulted and then thrown in jail.......ok he did steal a can of beer and a slide but charges MUST be brought on the passenger who started it all.

Well, the fact that he "stole" the beer was the least part of my disapproval... Launching the slide is more of a big deal, at least for me.

I'm on the FA's side! I love the story but I probably would have just contacted TSA and told them the unruly passenger seemed suspicious and might have some sort of "terrorist" involvement ::rambo:: and left it at that...... ::rofl::
