The flaps in a Tri-Pacer are actuated by a simple cable system, that pulls them down.  They are held up by airpressure and a spring while the airplane is in the air.  While it's on the ground, it's just the spring.  When the airplane is parked down wind, the flaps can get pushed down by a good stiff breeze, then of course will slam back up when the breeze quits.  The best solution is to put an external control lock on each wing.  The poor boy way is to leave the flaps in the full down postition, and try to park into the wind.

Oh yeah, there is no control lock on the airplane either.  Most people tie the yoke down with one of the seat-belts.  ;D  |:)\

A pilot is a confused soul who talks about women when he's around airplanes, and airplanes when he's around women.

Frank, the flaps on Tri Pacer are just spring loaded in the "up" position.

Get ready, the list will shock you with its immense capacity...

 1. Cessna 172K

and that's pretty much it. Shocking, isn't it? ;D Well, I did ride in a helicopter at the county fair, but I don't remember what kind of craft it was. Hopefully I'll be able to come back someday soon and expand on this list some. Stay 'tuned for that day!

Freightdogs (one word) always have great stories but whenever we start to relate them, people get that "OH, BS" look on their faces! ::)

Kinda like the look people get when we start telling fire stories----I'm sure you know what I mean Mike.    These are two segments of aviation that most folks never get to see and that makes it hard for them to visualize some of the 'interesting' scenarios. ;)

Fliboye, come on down and tell us about yourself. |:)\

Most people don't get to see ANY segment of aviation, except the passenger seats of commercial airliners!

The reliant was fun but it flies like a Mack truck. Worth it when you taxi in though. Paro= piperArrow .  Pietenpol (pete en pole) a great little plane, single engine tail draggin ragwing one wing up on struts (parasol)The first plans built on the market. As I recall the one I flew had an old Franklin.
