  i tried it with a glider once......TRIED being the word    wasn't pretty

My dad put one of ours into a full throttle power dive and tried to pull up........needless to say the wings went one way and the fuselage went another into the trees

by the looks of it big surface area,big prop large control surface movements  and a lot of luck just like when a F-15 Eagle lost its wing in a training accident and still managed to land safely a few years back.

Haha, yeah, definately a fake (Mike's link).

Of course there has been at least one aircraft that did land with basically just one wing, although that aircraft had a lifting-body mid-section as well so it only lost a smaller part of it's lift and stability.
