The ACM shots in that movie were awesome!  Talk about Pilot eye-candy (and Kelly McGillis wasn't half bad to look at either)! 

Loved the soundtrack, and the spirit of the movie, even if the behavior of Mavrick would have been grounds for court-martial in real life.

As said before ;D its a good movie! I love it! It was my favorite movie when i was young and the Aces (parody) kicked complete and utter @$$ too :D

Quick triva... Merlin is Tim Robbins. I never knew that until I saw Top Gun after I saw Shawshank Redemption years ago! So if you are playing "6 Degrees to Kevin Bacon" it could be a ringer!  I used to play 6deg with my buddies all the time in HS, cause we were nerds! ;D

Now Tim is like 6-1/2' tall... would he even be a Navy Pilot, I thought there was a hight restriction? Being too tall he wouldn't fit in the cockpit?

Ah yes, I thought of asking for a flyby on my solo... but decided against it.  Though I must admit I enjoyed the day I heard this...

GYH: "Cessna 304, can you go ahead and start your base?"
304: "Roger, Cessna 304 turning left base for runway 23"
GYH: "304 cleared for landing, runway 23."
304: "Cleared for landing runway 23, 304"
GYH: "Thanks.  Got a Hawker that Greer passed off to me with little notice, and you know he'll be coming in at Mach 2 with his hair on fire."

As for the movie, loved it, love it, and will continue to sing "You've lost that lovin feeling" at karaoke.   ;D

Btw Callisto, besides the maximum height then there's the matter that TOm Cruise is 2" too short to be a naval aviator :D

I always enjoyed Top Gun but thought Cloud Dancer was a better movie from a pilots perspective. Anybody else seen it?
