And about one of the best scenes:
The need to buzz the tower is engrained in every aviator! Is it because of Top Gun???

Steve McQueen did it first in "The War Lover". He buzzed the tower without even asking permission. It was in a B-17 though, but still enough to knock over everything on the C.O.'s desk!

I think Steve McQueen influenced the Top Gun Movie

HA!

Now I wonder if they saw the movie w/ Steve McQueen and went "that's a great scene, let's make a movie where they do this in an F-14" and then they went and invented the rest of the movie around it.....  ;)

The only scene in "Always"  that I watch is the PBY scaring the hell outta the fishermen.  LOVE that scene.

I've never seen that movie but am I right in thinking that between the title and the job of the actor that the star of the movie is a person with a very unstable mentality?

If you get a chance to see the Movie "The War Lover" Yeah he has a very unstable personality. Best line in the movie (not in the clips)

When asked if enjoys England. Mcqueens Response "I enjoy my work" "Your'e work?" Asked back

"Lady I am part of the most destructive force the world has ever known. That's my work." ::loony:: ::loony:: ::loony::

I don't think anyone could've played that role better than Steve McQueen. The Maverick of WW2 movies!
