Sounds like a report of all the cliches and stereotypes. After all Eskimo is not even a P.C. term anymore. Apparently all those in Nome are nothing more than stone-age people as well, according to that article anyways.

Shit, he didn't have to fly all the way to Alaska to find a place like how he describes.  Coulda come to North Dakota in January and found the same thing....
