I know 2 guys my age or older who haven't been divorced yet.
Read this article once that firemen and pilots have the highest divorce rates of all times. So I guess I am a little disadvantaged here...
I've been around fire (structure and wildland) and aviation practically all my life and it has ruined relationships in the past.
That's how I ended up with an ex-wife as well, I guess.
She thought it was all exciting in the beginning and adventurous. That turned into "Can't you do something else, this is kind of dangreous!"
Also, she thought I would be making airline-pilot wages and would have an airline pilot schedule.
No such luck. She didn't wanna stick with me.
But she sure wanted to stick with my car and money and keep the house.
The latter is kind of ironic because I never thought she was much of a "housekeeper", hehe.... Boy was I wrong.
After that I had to look for a new girlfriend pretty much every summer around August.
"When are you going to be home?"
"I don't know. October maybe?"
"Bye"
But I found the perfect woman. My fiance used to be a helicopter manager for the BLM and even though she quit flying, she is still in fire (structure) and she knows exactly what I do and even puts up with my brother and I stealing away and drawing little chickens on our time off cracking ourselves up. She also took flight lessons before and has 3 logged helicopter hours.
They are out there if you look around for a while!!
