True dat, airtac.  Crazy sling wing pilots.  But hey, we all know helicopters can't fly, they're just so ugly the earth repels 'em  ;D  Just kidding boys.

The average pilot, despite the sometimes swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring. These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Aww, thanks for all the great wishes and notes!!!  (I think I will NEED them...)   :D

As soon as I can get a few pictures, I'll, er, post a few.  Though, um, it kinda looks like a long, skinny, plain old dirt field.  (D'you suppose there IS something wrong with all of us?!?!?!)   ::whistle::  hee hee!!   ;D

["Heyyyy, babee....  wanna come over and see this GREAT dirt field?!?"]  <--------   ::loony::

I guess we'll need to have some manner of wild and crazy hangar party at some point!!!  It sounds like a great excuse to me!!!  And you bet, we'll have landing contests, takeoff contests, short field contests, flour bombing contests...  and then, we'll go OUTSIDE the hangar!!  AH!  What comraderie and silliness!!   ::drinking::    ::rofl::

And, No, Airtac, I wasn't maligning your skills at manning a lawn chair, I was just going off my personal experience....!!   ::rofl::

Thanks for all the grand laughs!  You guys always make me smile.   :D

I've been re-installing my previous programs after having transferred gigabytes and gigabytes of files (recording video from gameplaying really takes a lot of filespace! I love the one from FSX with the air-race challenge though). I got the latest version of Google Earth and looked around for updated and images. I already think I spotted my best friend Chey's white RX-7 at a parkinglot at a place she sometimes shops at (verified by her and and some 3D model comparisoms of the car's shape from above which is clearly different from other white cars) and then I took a look at mom's place and if it doesn't look the I've found the second vehicle of someone I know on the map! At least it looks like a minivan.

WOW  Frank!!   ::eek::

Too cool!!  Yes, that IS the main fire base for the BLM (Bureau of Land Management), and that IS a Minivan there on the concrete pad.  Actually, that is the main Fire center for the entire U.S....  when I first worked there, I think there were 300+ employees, and now it is over 600!!  Good grief..

Cool picture!   ::wave::

Congrats, S'mom!  The nice thing about living at an airport is there are no noise complaints.

Now, as for your ride to work, we've still got that beautiful Husky on the ramp over here...

Wheee hee, sounds good!  I'll take you up on that, and all the other airplane offers from the Coop lately, too...  Airplanes for all my friends!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, some of my buds are calling and complaining, "How the hell am I gonna fly in for a brewski, this doesn't meet my accelerate/stop!"   ::)  Waa, waa.
I can't win, I guess.   :P

I did learn today, there is NO ONE around that doesn't like airplanes...  kinda nice, like you said...  I guess there was one nasty lady but she moved away.   :D

I think there is an Ercoupe and a 172 on the field, not sure where the Stinson went...  I'm gonna have to figure out who is who and who flies what.   :)

Here's a picture of the Pepe' International Airport, looking west....

S-Mom, Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...

<measuring with thumb at arm's distance>

I believe I have landed in shorter strips with da Platypus.  I know for certain I have landed on rougher strips.  Now can you PM me a lat/long so I could check on the viability of the idea of bringing a bunch of yer friends to a party???   8)

That looks and sounds awesome in the true sense of the word mom  8) |:)\
Given the latitude and longitude I can also find it on Google Earth like I found the minivan a few posts above.

Hey Smom,
"accelerate-stop distance"?  HAH! I only worry about accelerate-crash calculations ::banghead::
If R/C can cram 8 or 10 of us in the Platypus, we won't hafta worry about engine out stuff (one engine=50% less chance of engine failure=no worries) ::whistle::

We go into rougher strips sometimes too... but I'd venture her's is still probobly shorter than what we touch.   (so come on, what *is* the length on that thing?)    The shortest strip we go into with the 1900 is 3000ft.  (Selawik, AK   Ident:  WLK , does not have an ICAO identifier).

You know, I seem to remember that an AN-2 has similiar takeoff and landing performance numbers to a supercub.... that's one way to cruise to work in style.  Of course, they also cruise at the speed of a supercub with probobly 3 times the fuel burn...   but I've seen them for sale for cheaper than super cubs too.

I like the idea of the airport view,  enjoy!

There's a bunch of AN-2's flying in the US under the Experimental rules. Along with a bunch of various Yaks. The FBO in Mom's home town (In Vermont) is an importer of Eastern European aircraft, specializing in the YAK-52 and Yak-12. They had an AN-2 for a while as well.

By the way Mom, what's the Identifier for your new place.... I've gotta at last virtually buzz the strip in Flight Sim  ::rofl::
