I had a buddy (on the ground) say that on a handheld once -- I announced in the pattern, and he thought he'd be a wise guy, so said "Looks like a crosswind...  better hand it over to Pepe'!"

Of course the spotter and I cracked up, but the rather somber lady manning the unicom didn't find it so funny, I guess.  She was in a bit of a HUFF, wanting to know WHO was PEPE'.   HEEEEEEEE.   ::rofl::

I can always tell which one of you two is flying . . . .

. . . because . . .

YOU LAND LIKE A GIRL !!!

HAHAHAHA!!!  :D  :D  ::wave::

Didn't get to say it all season since we only met once  :'(
ahhhh.... good times....good times ..... Maxwell and Mathews would be soooooo proud of me......  ::wave::

BWAAAAAAAAAAA  HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh MAN, yeah, you got THAT right!!!  Good heavens, can you imagine THIS, I talked to both of them today and they were actually TOGETHER....  George was picking up his horse from "prep school" in Montana, and somehow they ended up with cold ones in hand at Maxwell's....  I told them if ONLY I had known, I would have at least warned the Idaho State Police......   ::eek::

 ::eek::

And, hey, they have OBVIOUSLY been spreading the word....  Hmmmm...  When I moved to Twin, (when I saw you?!?   :D ), a guy at the tanker base came up and formally introduced himself...  all very polite...  and then a SEAT pilot who had been in Pokey yelled, "Oh CRAP, it's HER -- she lands that thing just like a GIRL!"  It was pretty funny.   ::rofl::

Hugs!  S'Mom***

I have a good luck charm, but it's more an everyday charm. the difference is that if I go flying I must be sure I've it with me. that's the medal of the dog I had when a child. it's mounted on a bracelet and everybody laughs when noticing that it's shaped like a bone, with the name of my pet engraved. Any case, I'm quite superstitious, and part of my actions involves recolletting things from the ground, such as nails, staples and coins which are - at least in my mind - bearers of good luck..... :)
I give that landing a 9 . . . on the Richter scale.

Don't ya just hate those people who will not let you have fun on the radio.....S'mom, I think I told you about me and "HF" messing on the radio in Hawaii when the tower called traffic in my 10'o'clock and I called "target visual--switching to guns"---That s my favourite on to do. Of course I am still waiting for the day when tower calls traffic--"57Z, you have a Fokker in your 2 o clock, turn behind that traffic", and I can respond...wait for it...

'Tower, visual with the FOKKER in my 2 o clock"...One day...

Back to the charms---some of you who have followed my year will remember the "smokey bear" I took flying with me in "Lucy" in the "Smoky national park"--Talk about irony...

Life may not be the party we hoped for---but while we're here--we might as well dance..........

Talking about your bracelet brings back memories...  I miss my dog.  That was a really cool thing to do that tag.

Yeah...  but I guess it makes us appreciate the funny radio stuff even more.

One of my favorites was when the tower told me "Cleared to do anything you want!!"   ;D

Heh heh heh!!!!!!!  Yeah, yeah, that DOES explain a lot, doesn't it?!?!    ::rofl::     ::loony::  That, and also the fact the guys kicked my bottle of medication out the open door..  OOOOOOPS!!!!!!!!!!   ::eek::

Hey are you still in PIH-town?   I wish I was...  since leaving work, I have had pet problems, truck problems, house problems AND of course, the joy of wondering when the next job will start.....  but I guess the stars must have lined up rather kindly yesterday, because...  I got the pet problems managed, the truck was repaired for WAY less than I'd feared, I got notice of upcoming work, AND found a new place to LIVE....  It was a GOOD day!!   :)

Sheesh...  maybe I should have run out and grabbed a lotto ticket, eh?   :D

(Pepe' just said it was all HIS doing....  being the GOOD LUCK CHARM, after all......   8)  )

I have a sorta strange good luck charm... it's a bullet, as in a fired from a gun bullet.

Way back when I was a deputy game warden, a poacher shot at me and my partner (the dude was a really bad shot and missed, thank God!). I guess he was upset we wanted to arrest him for poaching- go figure... ::)

After the arrest and trial, I went back to the scene and found a tree that he hit a few times and dug out the bullets. I gave one to my partner Randy and kept one for myself. Whenever someone asks, I tell'em it's the bullet I dodged, so I don't have to dodge anymore.

Well, that makes more sense...  ah, the Fire Girls, having completed another season, sharing a hangar and catching up on the summer's gossip.....
