437 days after I sobered up and approximately 13 months after starting the process of obtaining my first class medical, it has been granted as of 10/5!

Basically for the next 3 years I will be in the HIMS program and there is a list 12 items to which I need to comply. Most of which are to be carried out by my HIMS/AME in dealing with the FAA but I must maintain my recovery program obviously, see my faa psychiatrist yearly, medicals are only valid for 6 months at a time regardless of class, and several other items to be addressed by others.

This, obviously, is a HUGE milestone for me!  8)

Aviation related topics / Cow went head to head with a ...... Helicopter
« Last post by Ragwing on September 20, 2016, 02:04:48 PM »
Humanity’s dominion over the animal kingdom was called into question in far north Queensland yesterday afternoon, after a cow went head to head with a helicopter…and won.

“The cow escaped becoming roast beef and lived to roam another day,” it added.

Police are currently investigating the incident, but are yet to ascertain the cow’s motive. Reports that this is the beginning of some kind of coordinated bovine uprising cannot be confirmed at this time.

Aviation related topics / MOOC @ Embry-Riddle
« Last post by eraumromooc on August 30, 2016, 02:31:26 PM »
Good morning, all! My name is Alyssa and I am an instructional designer at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide.

I'm developing a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for October - I was granted permission from Michael and Stefan Strasser to use their comics in the course! On Sept 12, you can sign up for our Aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul MOOC starting October 17th and ending October 30th. http://worldwide.erau.edu/massive-open-online-courses

I have a question for all of you experts out there. I want to pick one comic per subject in the MOOC...I've got 5 subjects and I'm unsure which comics would be most appropriate!

1. Maintenance Policies and Procedures
2. Aging Aircraft Considerations/Maintenance Scheduling
3. Human Factors in Aviation Maitenance
4. Management Functions
5. Supply Chain Management/Logistics Support

Any ideas would be truly appreciated! I'll be looking through the comics today, but if you know of some that are closely related to any of these topics, please reply at your convenience. Thank you!

part 91 charter at first, already have a lead to when i get to 1000 TT to re-apply for 135 which isn't that many more hours to go. Right after they granted me a 3rd class in June I went and got my CE-500 SIC endorsement and all the paperwork is in to Washington DC now, so it's fly for free until I get my 1st class. I'm just got on a 3 pilot FO rotation so I'm playing the wait game for both air time and compensation.

This reads like an advertisement for me.   I was a bit confused about how the wifi works with the aircraft battery dead, but I'm guessing that had its own battery backup.   I think I'd rather have a backup battery for the radios.

also: why does this look like photoshop to me? ...

Because it hasn't gone into service yet.  They just finished the airframe and it hadn't even flown.
