Had a hankering for oysters this weekend so I called Hog Island Oysters on Tamales Bay and arranged for a pickup today since they are officially closed om Mondays. I drove out this afternoon and while I was waiting, another SUV driven by a distinguished lady pulled up and waited with me. After a while, she walked over and noticing my AOPA sticker, asked me if I flew. After a few minutes, our conversation about airplanes suddenly took a weird turn when she asked me if I ever heard of CW cartoons, when I said yeah, she asked if I was "fireflyer"----Holy cow----turns out she's SKYGAL... Had a severe fit of laughing after which we started comparing notes about Bay Area aviators we have known-----My God, what a small world---She's got a summer house not 5 miles from me. We both knew George Justman who did the first Forestry air attack contracts back in the late 50s and early 60s when the tankers were Stearmans and Wacos hauling something like 100 gallons of retardant. I'm allowed to say that much but am sworn to secrecy for anything else-----the oysters were MMMMMM so good---6 live, the rest BBQ'd (BURP 8))

What a small world! I am glad to hear that CW is a good conversation topic for people.... HA HA
But? How did she guess so fast that you were "Fireflyer"?? My broter must have drawn you really well.... ;)

HAHA! that's interesting! the world is definitely small! Something """"similar"""" happened to me yesterday. I went out for a beer and the barman who asked me what I wanted to drink (I will be honest and say I chose a diet coke! :) ) looked strangely familiar. we looked at each others, studying who we were, and it happened that he was a guy I had had a crush for more or less 10 years ago! But well...Lugano is a hole, it's not California!

Awww, Fireflyr / Airtac / our favorite fire guy..... didn't the guys ever TELL you about that magic-ink tattoo they slapped on your snoring butt in Winnemucca a couple summers ago?!?!?!?!?! Of COURSE Skygal knew it was you..... it's right there in BIG LETTERS!! (I mean the LETTERS are big, not, er, uhh, well never mind)...... ::rofl::

On a similar track..... while doing some intense GPS review today, with each of us on a simulator in our little training room in the hotel, one guy not too used to using the unit stumbled on to the scale button after a long search, and ran it up the scale... the guy sitting next to him said in surprise, "Oh, you got it!" and Guy "A" shouts out (we are all in various stages of deafness, and therefore love to talk too loudly):
"WOW!!! MINE IS BIGGER THAN YOURS!! AT LAST!!!"
At which point, the boss just shook his head and said "You know, no matter how many times I teach this, it never goes more than 10 minutes without sounding like a porn film being made!" ::rofl::
D'you suppose that was a compliment?!?!?!?!? ;D

We knew we must have been getting a bit silly today, because the boss kept saying "Why are there all those hotel maids, hanging around outside the door, LISTENING to you guys?" I guess he KNEW why when shouts of "MINE IS BIGGER THAN YOURS!!" went all the way down the hall!!! ::rofl::

No, it was not the picture, although in retrospect there is a very close resemblance !!! Actually, it was a conversation about Hog Island Oysters and Chicken Wings that gave him away, do you pay him to promote your site?
