Hahaha! Nice one!
Nothing beats that feeling you get when your model-plane gets chopped up into pieces :D

Even in the 80's I didn't need any help wrecking model planes. :P Though I did have a hawk go after one of mine once. Was a near miss. ::eek::

hehe...
we always flew too low to ever get into a real planes way... called it "Low Level Hell" after a book from Hugh Mills about flying OH-6's in Vietnam. It just didn't seem exciting enough to fly these planes higher than 20ft plus you can't see them anymore. Got to wreck a lot of them, but it was a blast....
good times, good times.... ;D

Great strip! It made me remember accompanying my brother for a field 10 km away from home to see his helicopter fly for 0.04 seconds before crashing and breaking into pieces. ::banghead:: ::rofl::

I love it. Definitely helicopter pilot humor.

Plus, provided that the total flight time of the engine had been of..............00.00.45 seconds total! ::wave::

If I could EVER be talented enough to build a nice little airplane OR helicopter, I'd be so bummed at the thought of wrecking it in the first few seconds, I'd probably just keep it on a table and LOOK at it!! :-\
Just call me CHICKEN!!! ;D

I like the corrent avatar with the northern lights. ;)
Havn't seen any that were that vividly red, although the ones last night were moving very fast and getting pretty pink. The one advantage to having a 4 hour layover in Anchorage becuase the basketball team chartered out the whole return leg of our scheduled run and wanted to take their time... getting in after midnight meant a really good view of the lights!
Anyway, as far as the helicopters go... they have some remote control helicopters with counter rotating blades that look somewhat controllable. Saw someone flying one in GA, had a kit with 4 ping pong balls on flexible sticks on the bottom... basically training wheels for the helicopter. It gives you a landing surface bigger than the rotor diameter until you get confortable with it enough to remove them and just use the skids. The sticks keep the skids a few inches off the ground and also act as a suspension. He was literally bouncing the helicopter into the air sometimes trying to land it, and didn't break anything.

Ha ha, I could use those training wheels myself......... :P
That shot of the northern lights was from, where else, Alaska (Girdwood)... I just loved it when I saw it. ;)
