Title: Calling all Air Traffic Controllers
Post by: UtahHeli_Ken on April 08, 2012, 03:44:58 PM
Any air traffic controller lurking in the shadows around here? I am currently in school to be an A&P and i am a commercial helicopter pilot. Recently i have been looking into Air Traffic controller jobs. So, I am kinda of curious if some working, or former ATC's could give me some sort of outlook. Pros, cons, best way to go about getting there? I would really appreciate it. Does having an aviation background help in selection, or being a better controller?

Thanks so much

I do know that there is a fairly young age limit to become a controller.
I remember I was too old already when I checked into that job.....

30 is actually the max age to begin.  And even that is kinda weird.  All you have to have in hand by your birthday is your firm offter letter.  From there it could be another 6-8 months till you actually get hired by the FAA.

PM is on its way with info.

Sorry, I totally meant maximum age, not minimum. Dang fingers have a mind of there own.
