Cliff notes:  Delta Air Lines is bidding on an oil refinery that was closed last september with (apparent) interest in bringing it back into production

Interesting idea of vertical integration!

A good example of how beneficial that is would be Emirates. The airline, the airport, the refineries etc. are all owned by the government. I don't think that's a particularly great thing, but it shows how good pulling on one string works. Their management doesn't have to worry about fuel prices, user fees, ticket taxes etc. etc.

I just heard of the refinery deal again. The news was quick to "caution" Delta because they said if it was that easy, everybody would be doing it....
But I hate the news (the same people who look down at guys who believe in gold) and I think Delta is on the right track.....
