Title: Technical Question on the Lycoming I/O 360
Post by: Plthijnx on November 09, 2005, 08:15:27 PM
our Arrow has the above engine. i thought that years ago, somewhere, someplace i heard or read about an STC to squeeze another H.P. out of the engine to achieve 201 H.P. anyone have any thoughts on this or know where i can find the STC?

It's only illegal if you get cought... ;D
Try doing an STC search on the FAA's website. You can search by type certificate or OEM manufacturer.

excuse my ignorance, but what is one more HP really gonna give you? 3 ft less T/O roll?
And make sure that you don't shorten your TBO time by installing the STC... (could happen...we have that on a GBX we use in our Long Ranger which gives us more power but less timelife)

it'll make more time in the high performace column. 201 and up qualify as high performance......used to be that twins were considered high performance but then they changed it some years back that both engines have to be 201 or greater not the two combined.....

Ahhhh, I seeeee. . . . (. . . . . . said the blind man to his deaf wife as he was feeling around her boobs....)
Boy, do I have egg in my face now! I totally didn't think about that. Funny rule actually! I forgot all about it after getting into helicopters. They don't have a 200hp limit. Lame excuse, I know! :-[
