Title: Pimp my Balloon
Post by: Rooster Cruiser on December 11, 2010, 05:17:18 PM
"Since when do you need a reason to put a radial engine in something?"  Maybe to increase the balloon's MGTOW so it can lift Hans' extra weight?  Hehe.   ::loony::

I am in agreement with Chuck.  Don't need a reason.  Methinks my house could use an R4360 on my rooftop as a Christmas decoration pulling Santa's sleigh.   >:D  And I am wondering if there is an STC to re-engine my 152 at the flying club with one???   ::thinking::

I'm loving this series, fellas!   |:)\ ::bow::

Why stop at a Radial? why not go for oh I don't know a V12 22 Litre in line engine I think it's called a Merlin or why not a Rolls Royce Avon for the burners?  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I wonder how long it's gonna be until we offend some real hardcore balloon people  .  .  .

 ::sick:: ::whistle::

Haha, I just think it's brilliant! :P
I'm usually (as again today) working on a Gipsy Major-powered A/C, and ballooning ground-crew is just a "job" I do on the side during the summertime... Both are cool, but different, and probably not really comparable...

you know those fans they have to initiallly blow the balloon up?!

how about a prop with a radial engine on one of those! The balloon will be filled in 30 sec!   ::rofl::

depends on the size, speed and power of the engine, as well as on the prop mounted to it :P
Thinking about it, it would also be pretty cool to just try and inflate a balloon with the propwash of the Lambach... :P

Oddball,

It is not power, it is the romantic sounds of yesteryear when radial engines ruled the sky, flying over our houses.

I have non-pilots in their 50's who still comment on the good old days with the sounds of radial engines.

I couldn't agree more!!  ::bow::

AND don't forget the awesome sound a 18 Cyl. radial engine makes when it "wakes up" .....   ;)
