Title: Focke Wulf FW-190 Restoration Start-up videos
Post by: Rooster Cruiser on May 16, 2010, 05:36:48 AM
I was about to leave Chino airport on Tuesday May 11 when I spotted an unusual airplane on the ramp. I went down there and discovered it was a just-restored FW-190 that was about to have a start up and taxi test by an FAA inspector. Since my camera was in my pocket I stuck around and captured these images. This airplane is probably on the static display ramp at the Chino Airshow this weekend, but I think it won't have its first flight til after the airshow is over. Enjoy the videos!

Fantastic luck, and quite a nice recording! ::bow:: |:)\ Also a very nice classic plane, especially now it's "just" a plane and not a weapon.

I was very lucky Frank. This is why I always have a camera tucked into my pocket. You never know what you are gonna see on an airport ramp... Especially at Chino!

What kind of camera do you have that fits in a pocket and takes such sharp videos and decent sound?

Do they have a Me 262 at Chino?

Oddy, the Chino Planes of Fame Museum has an Me262 in its collection but I don't think it is in flying condition.
Frank, my cheapie camera is a Sony DSC-S700 with 7.2 Megapixels and 3.0 Optical Zoom. I bought this at a Sears store about 4 years ago and it is considered old technology. Mama has a 12.2 Megapixel Samsung that she bought a year ago but she uses it exclusively for lectures and labs and won't let me touch it.

Its possible they do. I haven't been into the museum in years.

That's slightly newer than my first and so-far only digital camera and it's only 3.2 mp I think, although that's only for still-photos, the video/audio function is 15 fps at very low resolution. In any case then old as it might be then it clearly can still make good quality video-recordings 8)
