S-Mom... This is YOU!!!    |:)\ ::bow:: ::bow:: ::bow::

However I seem to recall I used this exact phrase somewhere in the forum about a year ago.  Hehe.  Hope I had a hand in the inspiration guys.

Aw, Mike & Stef, you crack me up!!!!!!!     ::bow::

 ::bow::

I love this strip...  TOO funny!!  And, gee, how true!!    ::rofl::

And RC, you'd have to ask the Boys in Charge, but I first heard it worded this way from the departure controller at Fresno....  they had quite a fire bust going and we went down to join in the fun in the gorgeous Sierras....  as we climbed out, going to the fire after getting fuel (and having parked right beneath the tower, where they no doubt thought "What the HELL is THIS clown show??"), he asked me if I "liked my job".

It was super busy -- helicopters, tankers and fire traffic everywhere, and plenty of smoke...  I thought "What the hell is he asking me THAT for?" and I stammered, "Uh, yeah, it's a good job..."

Then he came back and said "I know plenty of women who would KILL for your job -- throwing men out of an airplane into fires...!"      ::rofl::

It cracked me up...  I told him I hadn't thought of it THAT way, but...  the man had a point!    ::bow::

The spotter laughed as hard as I did...  then we went off into some of the prettiest country there is, and dropped the guys on some gorgeous fires up in the high country...........   |:)\

Love the strip, guys!!    ::bow::  (You just can't make this stuff up, huh?)    ;)

Yep!! This is exactly the story which inspired the strip. I remember you telling me the story over a beer a while back and I thought it was awesome!
We don't have a "Soccermom" character yet but Alex is a pretty close match to Mary so it became her line. Also we wanted to establish that for some people, aviation doesn't pay enough to do full time in case we want to run with it one day and try to help get the salaries up......  ;)
There is a lot of thinking (sometimes) behind our strips (not always though  ;)) heh heh....
....and sometimes we can make it look like a lot of thought went into the strip even though it was just some drunk joke at the time! HA HA  ::rofl::
But with Alex we have to be careful for obvious reasons.....
