Title: Another article on the drunken airline crew

This started in the Humor area, but there isn't much humor here, unless you count the myriad excuses the INSANE flight crew tried to use on the passengers, to get the airplane off the ground 'as is'. ::loony::
I think my favorite may be the one where the worst thing that could happen with a drunk Captain is that 'the pilot might trip over something in the cockpit'. Yeah, right!! Like that Jepp case stuffed full of vodka bottles. ::eek::

aye those central consoles can jump out on you from now where! ::unbelieveable:: ::eek:: ::loony:: ::complaining: i think i might put off my next trip to Russia now.

Two years ago, my company changed from a blood-alcohol level of 0.04 to 0.02. It costs the company a little too much to fix a little "oops" on the airplane we are building.

In the US pilots are not allowed to fly with ANY alcohol in their system! If a pilot is tested on a breathalyzer and blows even 0.01% he is automatically put out of service for the next 8 hours. 0.04% BAC is considered legally intoxicated by the FAA (half what it is for drunk driving) and anyone caught attempting to fly with 0.04% or higher is subject to arrest for DUI.
