Title: An Excellent Website for Aviation Accident Summaries and Photos
Post by: TheSoccerMom on February 08, 2009, 08:38:45 AM
I did a Coop search (a bit messy with all the straw and feathers around), and found that UNDATC listed this website over a year ago, as a good place for information. |:)\
I thought it was worth repeating, in a new post. I stumbled across it this evening and was still reading three hours later. There are some amazing stories and photos on here! ::eek::
The main page even has the most recent events in the news, up to the minute... including a turbine Doug, and a twin Otter on skis, in the last day or so, and apparently right now, an Embraer forced to land in a river in Brazil.
Here's a sample photo, of a C-47 that took off with the elevator locked..... no fatalities, apparently: ::unbelieveable::

Ho HO! :o
Not to mention, a C-17 which recently landed gear up at Bagram Air Base... Wow, that must have been one helluva noise.... ::banghead::

Yes, must have been...
noticing that C47... could you believe someone actually took off in Cessna 152 with control lock including REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT banner still on the controls? He did not make it, unlike the RAF guys. btw. this, and many other local things including airliner ops are missing. So I guess good for Americas, but not so for Europe.

nice little website!
I think a cool feature would be an option to search by aircraft model. That way you could collect the info and use it for training.

not as head as you would belive Fabo, recently read an article about a captured Me 108 Typhun ,that was being used as a personal mount for a R.A.F station comander , being taken by a trainee with all the locks still on.

Now I can't even connect to this page, grr-rrr, but there IS a way to ask for all accidents by aircraft model. It shows you the total number, and you can read each one, and look at the photos. That was how I found this first -- reading about just Minivan accidents. :'(

ah! just found it!
doesn't list much helicopters though, must be a stuck-wing thing. my own "mishap" isn't in there either....
but still, nice site, I like it....

Yeah, I wonder why its helicopter information is so lacking. It comes from FlightSafety... you'd think there'd be more aircraft types in it...?
Maybe it's a work in progress... they sure do have some interesting photos, though. I see a use for some of those Minivan ones... ::whistle::
If things get a bit too slowwwww this season, a person could take a picture of those wrecks with, say, a cheap cell phone, and send them along to the Boss.... just to perk things up, so to speak.... ::whistle::
