Title: Airline Question
Post by: Mike on February 07, 2009, 11:08:22 PM
I have a question for all you fixed wing and regulation buffs:

Do any of you know when the mandatory briefing they give you on the airliner before take off was made mandatory / became a regulation??

Sorry, I've been having just about the biggest problems of my life the last couple of weeks, almost looking like I could end up homeless so I haven't checked. Things for all three of us are looking a little better atm though for those wondering.

I've been searching, too, Mike, but can't seem to pin down the date.  I'll ask the boss..  maybe he knows!   ;D

It was probably a bit later then the very first fire briefing though....  "Don't Make Me Come Back There....."    ::rofl::

I've been looking, but haven't had any luck and wasn't going to post until I found something.

I've found references that mention safety briefings and changes to regulations with them... but nothing about when they started.

So, who wants to call the AOPA hotline?

Wow, thanks Baradium.

I figure if you don't even know, I have no choice but to post my question in the AOPA forum.
we'll see if I get lectured again.....

I appreciate everybodys effort though. Thanks guys!  ::wave::

Why would any reasonable person lecture someone because of asking such a question?

Frank, P in AOPA stand for Pilots... Have you ever heard of reasonable pilot? ;D

Fabo: Good point :D

Seriously, it just struck me that I misunderstood "lecture", I thought Mike was expecting a scolding for asking that question but perhaps he just meant any reply he would get would long and possibly also complicated where some of us here might give a much more concise, and thus practical, reply.

I'd guess that the "lecture" word hints at the possibility of getting not so much a long and complicated answer, as a snide and condescending one.....   ::thinking::

There are some good posts on that pilot forum, but MAN, some of those guys are just rude little snots, too.  I'd sugarcoat it here, but I've seen it more often than not, unfortunately.    :(

Okay..  blast away....  S'Mom's not being nice.....   >:D
but I bet I've been an AOPA member longer than most of those little charmers.    :P

 ::whistle::

OK,  I have written to the FAA Education department and we will see if one of those overpaid, excuse me, generously compensated experts can come up with an answer. ::bow::

Thank you for writing the Federal Aviation Administration's Education Department.  Your correspondence is important to us.  We are processing your request and expect an answer to your query within 90 days.  In the mean time, we have sent an investigator to your home field to inspect every airplane and airman based there.  He will tell everyone you sent him.  Good day.
