I can understand the awesome buzz they would get out of that - its real bird -type flying. Unfortunately I wont be trying at any time soon, I'm not great on falling or jumping off / out of tall things. The only time I'd parachute jump would be if the plane was on fire.... Top marks to these guys though, they are truely enjoying themselves - and making spectacular video clips whilst they do it!

Funny you should say that---I am the same way---I am deathly afraid of heights..unless I am in control---prolly why I am a control freak.. ::unbelieveable::

Not for me. Go figure why, I can fly an airplane without any problem but looking down from a balcony above 3th floor and I'm freaking out.

You're not alone -- I've yet to meet a pilot who LIKES heights, or being up on high tree limbs, or at the very top of a ladder... man, I HATED having to go to the very top of our house when we were kids, when it was painting time... ::eek::
Every one that flies, that I know, is NOT fond of heights... flying sure is different, somehow.
(Maybe because I have my eyes closed the whole time??!??) :D

Hmmm, crazy indeed. If only they were norwegians then as a dane I could make some funny joke about crazy drunk norwegians (it's an inside scandinavian joke, across the sea/sound you could buy tax-free booze so often scandinavians took a ferry trip and got boozed up, at least before EU, and in Sweden all liquour is sold only in goverment stores, or at least it was, so it was easy if you lived in southern Sweden to take a short ride across the sound to Denmark and go buy some beer here, thus an increased image of drunk swedes etc. due to their numbers on the street at weekend).
Btw, if I just step up on a ladder a few steps and it's not completely rock-stable then I get nervous, but in the flight in the you-know-what-airplane I could push my head right to the window in the door and look straight down and not feel scared! I did have some mild butterflies in my stomach but that was due to the flight itself, finally experiencing what it was like and not fear of heights. I think it's mainly knowing you have some safety/control over a situation.

Well, if I go out on any balcony more than one floor high :o all earth moves and I feel extremely uneassy! ::sick:: I don't fear heights only: I am TERRORIZED by hights!!! I discovered that in my youth when climbing mountain walls, training for alpine rescue ::banghead:: I just freeze, and takes me hours for my next SHAKY as HE.. (can we say hell?) move. I hate it!
|:)\ But flying an ultralight, I dont feel that...nor in Skydive at the open door of the Cessnas taildragers, taking that wing spar with my hands & one foot on the door step: just in case ::thinking:: I don't look down until I am free falling AFTER I RELEASE! (or I stay in the plane spar, as I did in Puerto Escondido once...) ::loony::
Once released & flying free ::bow:: I feel better than ever in my life ::angel:: though. I just don't like the shortness of it. Not even 10 minutes: less than a minute before opening the parachute wing, from 10000 ft to 4000 ft (were Oscar wants us to open), then about 6 minutes flight at the most after opening. If the parawing does not open, it's even a shorter time...and with NO REFUNDS! ::knockedout::
::eek:: Have a look at this Switzero: Rocketman flies in the skies (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_depth/7402016.stm) or sould I say Swiss hero? ::cowboy::

Maybe, Frank... Maybe... ::thinking::
However, the best adventure is one where you have no idea whether you will survive at all. This implies that you have no control over a situation, period. What you then do is place your trust in your skills and whomever you believe in. If it works out, great! If it doesn't work out, you're in trouble.
Don't ask me to bail you out of a jam, but I'd be happy to sit next to you in a cell and say, "Damn! That was fun!"
