I do that to my Arrow often... well, reassuring pats, pep-talks, and thanks.

I've hugged Panaca Jane many times! I am not ashamed at all to admit it....
She takes good care of me, always has. I won't get to see her for Christmas but right after.

I've never hugged my airplanes, but I certainly have given them all an affectionate pat on the nose both before we go up and after we come down.  I'm not ashamed to do it in public either!

These are the hard-working machines which come to life in our hands and together we all make magic in them.  Who says they don't have a soul?  I'm superstitious enough to believe they do, and I sure don't want to tick off my ride because I wasn't humble and thankful before them.

In the old days when I drove the Ford Orion I used to give it a, what do you call it, pat? After a nice drive, and if I ever get to fly another aircraft then I might do the same as well.
