Title: I'ts been two really bad months...
Post by: 4X-NTY on September 10, 2008, 06:22:34 PM
It's been two really bad months to the Israeli aviation, we had in five crashes. The first was a Beechcraft Bonanza A36, crashed in Haifa airport after departing from Cyprus and going around several time, when landing it turned right and hit a nearby building, there was a pilot and three passengers, the pilot and two of the passengers died and one is alive with severe burns. the plane tail number is 4X-DZL
Two of the crashes were last month, one is an ultralight that jumped on the runway (known as Kangaroo in here) and the front landing gear collapsed causing the plane flipping on his back, the pilot got out with minimal damage. the second is a trike that hit a mountain,i have no idea where and how is the pilot.
The fourth is the plane that i really respect it and it's former owners,a Maxair Drifter (ultralight),he landed to late and had to go around, but didn't had enough runway to airborn, and it got into a tunnel that is close to the runway, the pilot and the passenger are OK. i respect this plane because it did the Pharaohs Rally in 1994 with another Drifter, and he almost land on a carrier that just entered a nearby harbor (I have a blackout currently). It's tail number is 4X-HFU
And the fifth happened today, a AH-1 Cobra (Tzefa) of the Israeli Airforce crashed near Ramat David airbase of an unknown reason, some says it exploded in the sky and some say it was spinning until it hit the ground,I don't really know what happened, but i know that both the pilot and the navigator are dead.
So we had a really bad months over here, and some of the people are trying to convince me to back off of flying, but I showed them some reason of why flying is safer, and that I have no problem dying in a car crash because I'll know that i have done what I wanted to do.

Very sorry to hear about those. My condolences to the families and my prayers to their souls.
It seems like it was a really bad time for aviation everywhere, these two past months. We had two fatal crashes in Guatemala as well. The first one was a Bell 206 that had what seems to be an engine failure (the techs are still trying to decide what exactly failed) in IFR in the mountains to the north of the city and crashed. 4 people killed, including my dad, who was the pilot. The second one was a Cessna Caravan that reported an engine failure and went down about 15 minutes into the flight. The pilot, a lady I knew, did everything she could to land the plane, but she came sort of her aiming point and the wing hit a tree. The plane caught fire and 10 of the 14 people where killed, including both pilots and 6 American citizens on missionary work.
Sometimes it's hard to keep going with your dreams, especially when something like that happens. People start trying to convince you to get a "safer" job. But I've thought about it, and I've decided that I would really love to fly, and my dad would agree and approve of my decision, so I'll keep trying to become a pilot.
Whoa, my english really is bad this morning. I had to wake up early to get a ride down to the airfield for my soaring lessons, only to find out that the weather's IFR and I had to turn back.

Madpilot. Please accept my condolances on the tragic loss of your father. :'( Just remember, only you can decide whether you should continue to pursue your dream of flight. Do NOT listen to the naysayers! They will run your entire life for you if you let them. Had Orville and Wilbur listened to them we'd all be earthbound still.
I will make certain to face west and make a toast to your dad this evening. |:)\

Thanks for the wishes. I'd be happy to join you in your toasting, but somebody somewhere decided that USAF Academy cadets ought not to have alcohol in campus, even if they're of legal drinking age. But I'll toast tomorrow, when I get out of this place. That's the way my dad would've liked it.
As for the naysayers, I don't worry about them too much. I mean, the dream of flight is too strong to be left out. I think I'd be a very unhappy paper pusher, always with one eye on the sky, as DaVinci so rightly said so many years ago.

And then there is another crash, a Boeing 737 of Aeroflot crashes into center of Perm - 88 POB, all dead
I dont know if you can see in the video, but the railway, the Transsiberian Magistrate, is only place in vicinity that is not an apartment building. Toasts to pilot - hero who found the right place, even though he knew he was gonna die in there |:)\ |:)\ |:)\

One of my close friends, who also is a pilot in the same company has also lost his dad in a helicopter accident. Not only that, he even witnessed the helicopter hitting the powerlines and going down. He still flies helicopters (even though some of his family wants him to quit) because he loves it and because he knows his dad would have wanted him to keep flying. He has a big tattoo of his dad on his arm.....
We'll toast to your dad here tonight in the Vegas are! |:)\ ::drinking::
Sorry for your loss!
