Title: Turbo Skylane
Post by: Mike on March 10, 2006, 10:51:08 PM
Hey guys!
I should know this because I used to work on them before but:
Is a T182RG Skylane fuel injected or does it have a carburetor?

And while I am at it....does it have two magnetos or the pain-in-the-@$$-to-adjust-dual-mag?

(CRS is kicking in again)

Carbed... and yes, it's got one of those single drive mags.  Nice and cheap.

They don't have auto wastegates like the big Continentals either.  It's a cable arrangemant that starts closing the gate after about half throttle.  Get's really sensitive too...

So, just to verify:

single drive mag = pain-in-the-@$$-to-adjust-dual-mag
 ??? ???

Thanks!!!

Yeah, I hate those.
What I remember most about the T-RG is the inlet for the turbo that's kind of open for all kinds of debris to fall into. I must have changed 3 turbos because of that. And every time I found some sort of clamp piece that broke off or something similar. I cleaned up the whole engine compartment after that and then, boom, I get the next plane with the same problem. (I think we maintained 3 or 4 of them...)
