Title: Interesting Runway
Post by: G-man on April 24, 2008, 03:06:30 PM
So I flew over this runway in Missouri while on my way to a fire---of course we had to return and get pictures.. So the question arises--WHY the "curve" ::thinking:: ::thinking::

We came up with the following so far:

1.  The guy was drunk or high when he cut out the trees for it.
2.  It was deliberate, to offset the owners "lazy eye".

It also reduces the maximum crosswind component you can get.
Well, as long as you get your plane down in half of the runway lenght. . . .

maybe he hasn't figured out yet that he needs to put in a little rudder when he applies power for takeoff . . .  ::)

-Wears thick glasses, things are distorted around the edges
-He's a cub driver, nuff said.
-Wanted to scare off student pilots (and Chucks)

But most likely
- Property line got in the way
- Soft ground needed to be avoided
- Used and existing cut formerly used for some other purpose.
