Title: Two weeks in Wales!!!! (hurray!!!!!)

Hey guys, Tuesday morning I'm flying to London (with BA, yes I'm flying into terminal 5 ::eek::) and then taking a coach to Wales!
I'll be visiting a friend in Swansea for two weeks and I'm sure I'll be having a great time and lots of Welsh (mmmm... is that spelling correct?) beer!
I don't know if I'll be online much in these two weeks, but I'll try to post all the photos and stories I can!

Whoa Nick,
I'll wish you a good time mate, hell make that a GREAT time, but I'm a bit worried that when you post all your vacation pictures, it'll be TWO WEEKS' worth of you going 'round and 'round on the baggage carousels in Terminal 5....... trapped in a circular universe, cussing out BA, waving your thin, weak arms as you go by.... your straggly beard caught in the mountains of lost luggage......
Oh where was I, hey have a Nice Trip!! ::wave::

Mom, thanks!
I've decided to be optimistic and daring, "O tolmon nika!" as we say in Greek ("The daring shall win" - or something like that)
And also I'm getting my credit card with me, luggage is just clothing, nothing stops me from buying another set of clothes and having fun while those BA guys do nasty things to my suitcase!
Just hope I'm right at the end ::silly::

do you lot know how far iam from wales!!!!! i would buy any of you lot a round any day though. give me time and i will post up how far i am from swansea. as for going through terminal 5 we may never see poor airscrop again. |:)\

Heh, I didn't realise you were coming into T5. You're doomed!
TOMSsy is currently afflicted with a starter which doesn't, (start, that is), but if no one's managed to batter the bendix into submission by the weekend, I'm sure I can rustle up a club 'plane for a quick flit. You've GOT to see Gower from the air, it's knockout gorgeous.

OK by road i am 480 miles from swansea and it will take 8hrs and 16min so that's still quicker than going through LHR terminal 5 ::rofl::

Luggage is lost.. I'm starting to turn around cirles through the terminal.. Athorities are nowhere to be found! It's getting dark.. I'm starting to get cold and afraid.. Think I'm gonna sleep on the terminal floor with the rest of my flight.. I wanna cry!!!!!
:P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P Just kidding, terminal 5 was a blast and quick as hell! I arrived in Swansea and settled in, had a few pints ::drinking:: met a few people and it's just the first day! Hooray!!!!!!! I NEED SLEEP! ::wave:: Bye now, I feel like I'm gonna fall asleep before my head comes in contact with the pillow!

Hey Oddie, I don't know anything about that... Myself, I just had the old "fish and chips" (fried cod with potatoes) plate today,
Had a blast walking on the beach in Swansea and taking the stage in a pub called "Mozarts" with my friend.. She was playing "Rape me" by Nirvana and I got to do the second vocals' "rape me" part.. Right now we're at some other greek's house, drinking beer and talking about all kinds of things.. We also have a german guy with us and he can't speak a word of Greek, I guess he's starting to freak out!
Yea guys, great times! And it's a great city too! Maybe a bit too relaxed, but I like the laid-back attitude they have here..
Ok, when I'm not feeling lazy as I do now, maybe I'll upload some pics..
Also saw a small prop plane flying above the city.. I just wonder if it was Leia..

Well, met up with AirScorp today and went out the airfield. Unfortunately subjected to typical Welsh weather and there was no flying to be had (40 degrees off the runway gusting 27 knots in spitting rain...). But we mooched aroudn the hangars, admired assorted Yaks, and did a lot of "hangar flying" with other grounded-by-weather pilots, and drank a lot of coffee!

Ermm for the avoidance of doubt, the ailing aeroplane which is now in a rather sorry heap at Swansea is nothing to do with me!
So what happened, Leia? The BBC appears to be coming up short on the 5 "W's" of Journalism with this report, i.e., Who What Where When and Why. The What part is it appears to have been a C177RG. Now I notice that the prop appears to be intact and not bent, so I am guessing that this was not an inadvertent gear up landing. The pilot appears to have stopped the engine and got the prop horizontal before making a dead-stick landing in order to save his engine.
Was the gear completely up, or did the main gear saddle break and the pilot landed with just the nosewheel extended? I can't make out much in that pic, but it appears that the nosewheel is out. Its a bit unusual since in most cases of a broken gear saddle in Cessna singles, just one of the main gear will go down and locked but the other will be in trail.
Kudos to the pilot. He did a fine job of getting it down in one piece. This airplane is actually reusable after a little metal work. |:)\ |:)\ |:)\ |:)\ |:)\ |:)\

Haven't been down the field and got the gossip yet, but know it's the second gear up landing that poor aeroplane's had in the past few years!
Last time the nosewheel refused to lock down.

By now, you all must have understood just how LAZY I am ::rofl:: Time for a little update!
I'm back in Greece, I had a great time in Wales and was sad to leave, especially after all the friendliness everyone there showed! First of all Leia!
It was fun, it had beer, airplanes, what more would any guy with aviatitis could ask for? (there's always the stip-bar, didn't get to that ::cowboy:: )
I know I should run the photos, but since around here it's still a holiday of sorts (week after Easter) I think I can procrastinate just a little more! ::loony::
