Title: New study indicates a physical reason to shell shock (PTSD)
Post by: Frank N. O. on February 26, 2008, 03:22:45 AM
I heard on the radionews a few days ago that a new american study shows that soldiers that have been in heavy combat might really have physical shell shock, namely that the shockwave blast has given physical brain damage which could explain the syndrom nowadays called post-traumatic stress disorder which according to the news was until now thought to be a pure mental problem.
There sadly wasn't any word if that made a treatment more likely but at least it seems there is better knowledge about the problem. Can someone verify this news, and the probability of it's truth?

Haven't heard anything about it. Though I do remember reading about boxers that were punch drunk. They had been hit in the head so often that they displayed symptoms of being drunk. Slurred speech being the most common I believe. So there could be something to it.
Hope you get in the air soon. Best wishes to you and your Mom.
